Описание
Stannous Oxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SnO. It is a blue-black metallic crystalline powder. Odorless or slightly odorous with hydrochloric acid. At the same time, SnO is insoluble in water and ethanol, but soluble in acid, concentrated NaOH, and KOH solution. But avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents and acids.
– Glassmaking: For example, Stannous Oxide in glassmaking act as a reducing agent and opacifier. It helps remove impurities and colorants from the glass batch, resulting in clearer, more transparent glass. Depending on the desired effect, the SnO can also play a key role to create opaque or tinted glass.
– Glass coatings: Stannous Oxide finds its use in some glass coating formulations. These coatings hold the application in glass surfaces to enhance their properties, such as scratch resistance, durability, and electrical conductivity. SnO can improve the chemical and physical properties of these coatings, making them more effective.
– Glass pigments: Stannous Oxide can act as a pigment in the glass industry. When added in small amounts, it gives the glass a yellow tint. By changing the concentration of SnO, it will show different shades of yellow. These pigments commonly find their use in the production of decorative glassware, stained glass, and art glass.
– Glass frit: For example, the production of frit usually uses SnO, which is a powdered glass material used in various applications. Glass frits containing Stannous Oxide finds it use to fuse glass sheets together or to create decorative patterns on glass surfaces. The SnO in the frit contributes to the desired color and characteristics of the molten glass.
