Potassium Acetate is an organic substance with the chemical formula CH3COOK. It is a colorless or white crystalline powder with an alkaline taste and is easy to deliquescence. And it is used as an analytical reagent to adjust the pH value. The CH3COOK boiling point is 117.1ºC at 760 mmHg. CAS No.: 127-08-2. Melting point: 292 ℃. The density is 1.57 g/cm³. At the same time, Potassium Ethanoate is easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, and liquid ammonia. Insoluble in ether and acetone. It can also be a desiccant used to manufacture transparent glass in the pharmaceutical industry. Furthermore, It can also be used as a buffer, diuretic, fabric and paper softener, and catalyst.

Potassium Acetate Uses are:
– CH3COOK can also be an anti-icing substance, replacing chlorides such as calcium and magnesium. It is less erosive and corrosive to soil and is especially suitable for deicing airport runways, but it is more expensive.
– Food additives (preservation and acidity control).
– Components of fire extinguishers.
– For the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis, the principle is that it is alkaline and can react with bicarbonate.
– Used in molecular biology to precipitate sodium dodecyl sulfate.
– Potassium Acetate uses in ethanol precipitation of DNA.
– For preservation and fixation of biological tissues,  used with formaldehyde.
