Petalite

Petalite is a shelf-like silicate mineral and an ore containing lithium. The color is often white or yellow, occasionally pink, and usually appears in lumps.
Generally speaking, Petalite has a wide range of applications in industry and its uses are detail below.

• Ceramic Industry.
  Petalite is an important raw material for the production of low-expansion, high-heat-resistant ceramic products. Thus it can improve the thermal stability, compactness, and strength of ceramic materials. The use of Petalite can reduce the thermal expansion coefficient of ceramic products, improve thermal shock resistance, and make the product less likely to crack under water cooling.
• Battery Manufacturing.
  The lithium ions in Petalite can provide the main power source of the battery. Lithium batteries are the main application field of  LiAlSi₄O₁₀ and are widely active in electronic equipment, electric vehicles, energy storage equipment, etc.
• Glass Industry.
  Due to the high lithium content of lithium feldspar, it can improve the thermal shock resistance and chemical corrosion resistance of glass.  LiAlSi₄O₁₀ can also adjust the melting point and viscosity of glass and improve the fluidity of glass, making it easier to process and shape.
• Rubber and Plastic Industry.
  Petalite serve as a filler and plasticizer in rubber and plastics to improve their hardness, heat resistance, and chemical stability.
• Fertilizer Production.
  Petalite can be crushed and processed into powder and mixed with soil for use.  Thus it can provide lithium elements needed by plants, improve the soil, and promote the growth and development of plants.
