Description
Tungsten Sulfide (WS2) is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula Tungsten Sulfide and a molecular of 247.97. It is a gray, metallic lustered fine crystal or powder, belonging to the hexagonal crystal system, with and diamagnetic properties. The natural mineral is scheelite. It has a layer structure, is easy delaminate, and has a lubricating property similar to. It is used as a lubricant, such as in aerosols.
Tungsten disulfide is a compound of tungsten and sulfur, with the formula WS2 and a molecular weight of 247.97. Appears as a black-gray powder in nature as scheelite, a dark grayorhombic crystal and has a relative density of 7.510.It is slightly soluble in cold water and soluble in hot water. is insoluble in hydrochloric acid and alkali (except for a mixture of concentrated nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid). dissolves in moltenali but is insoluble in alcohol, has a density of 7.6g·cm-3.
It be use for a lubricant, with better performance than molybdenum disulfide, lower friction coefficient, and higher compressive strength. It can alone in high-temperature, high-pressure, high-speed, and high-load conditions, as well as in chemically active media. When use for in combination with other as a forging and stamping lubricant, it can extend the life of the die and improve the surface finish of the product. When mixed with polytetraoroethylene and nylon, it can use for to make self-lubricating parts.
Additionally, tungsten disulfide can also use fo red as a catalyst the petrochemical industry, with the advantages of high cracking performance, stable and reliable catalytic activity, and long service life
