Industrial Grade Barium Titanate
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Description
Industrial Grade Barium Titanate (BaTiO₃) is an important inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaTiO₃, a molecular weight of 233.21, and a melting point of 1618°C. It is a white powder or transparent crystal that is insoluble in water but soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid.
Physical and chemical properties
Industrial Grade Barium Titanate has a variety of unique physical and chemical properties, including its crystal structure and ferroelectricity. Barium titanate transforms into a cubic perovskite structure between 1460~130°C, and transforms into a tetragonal crystal system in the temperature range of 130~5°C, showing significant ferroelectricity. Then This ferroelectricity makes barium titanate widely use in electronic ceramics and other high-tech fields.
Ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity
Barium titanate crystals exhibit paraelectricity above the Curie point (130°C) and ferroelectricity below 130°C. This property makes Industrial Grade Barium Titanate an important ferroelectric material with high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. In addition, barium titanate also has piezoelectricity, then which can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice versa.
Ceramic industry
Barium titanate can be use as an additive for ceramic glazes and pigments to improve the gloss, hardness and wear resistance of ceramics, while enhancing their corrosion resistance.
Paint industry
Barium titanate can be use as an additive for fire-retardant coatings to improve the fire resistance and chemical corrosion resistance of the coating.
Plastic industry
As an additive for plasticizers and colorants, barium titanate can increase the strength and hardness of plastics, and improve their heat resistance and weather resistance.
Electronic industry
Barium titanate is the main raw material for manufacturing capacitors and ceramic capacitors, and can significantly improve the dielectric constant and stability of capacitors.
Glass industry
As an additive for glass, barium titanate can enhance the UV resistance and then wear resistance of glass.
Pharmaceutical industry
Barium titanate can also be used as a non-toxic and harmless drug additive for the manufacture of digestive tract drugs and antacids.
Electronic ceramics and electronic components
Barium titanate is the basic matrix material of titanate series electronic ceramics, and is widely use in the manufacture of ceramic sensitive components. Multilayer ceramic capacitors, memory materials, etc. In particular, positive temperature coefficient thermistors (PTC), multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCS), thermoelectric elements. Piezoelectric ceramics, etc., all rely on the unique properties of barium titanate.
In short, barium titanate is not only widely use in the traditional ceramic industry, but also plays an important role in the modern electronics industry. It is a chemical substance with important economic value and application prospects.
